Unknown contact

Postby Doc_Davis » Thu Mar 04, 2010 2:26 pm

I set up our 5 person company to use Brosix as a quick and simple way to communicate both as a replacement and as an enhancement to text and calling. There are only 3 of us on Brosix yet as I haven't gotten the other 2 up and running. Despite zero advertising of our "network", one of our people gets an incredibly persistent notice that "trisha perez" would like to contact them with the option to add to contact list or ignore. Obviously we continue to ignore, but I am curious as to how this person came across our "network", and how she would then get the individual’s user name. Any ideas?
ps
If this person came across my name I would make contact and steer her away, but I don't want to do that on system she is trying to contact.
Thanks in advance,
Doc Davis

Doc,

What is the name of your Instant Messaging Network?
We will check the case.

Stefan

My apologies Stefan, but when I used the word "network", I improperly implied that this is on a paid account. It is not. I was using the term "network" (with quotes) to indicate that our little company (tiny network of people) has not reached outside of itself to contact anyone via Brosix, nor have we advertised our use of it. So the question is, how would someone know to send a request to contact one of our employees without our solicitation of some kind? How could they have gotten this user's Brosix i.d.?
Again, sorry for the confusion,
Doc Davis

Hello Doc,

Brosix has a search function. Go to the menu Contacts->Add a contact.
You can type name or part of a name and you will see a list of users.
This is the way someone found you.

And this is a feature to let people from one IM network easily find each other.

Because you use the Brosix Free Public network you are subject to be found by everyone from this network.
Of course, you can ignore their invitation to communicate and you will not be bothered anymore.

Brosix private IM networks are "private" which means non-authorized users cannot get in contact with you or your colleagues.

Best regards,
Stefan
